Mr. Cyr is Senior Vice President at Stern Risk Partners with a focus on Property Claims Advocacy. A 30+ year veteran of the property claims industry, Jim began his career as an independent loss adjuster working for several large loss adjusting companies
investigating complex losses on behalf of many multinational insurers. As an adjuster, Jim was exposed to complex losses involving real estate, retail, builder’s risk, gaming hospitality, power generation (fossil and renewable), manufacturing,
chemical and pharmaceutical losses as well, pulp and paper, including time element claims.
Prior to joining Stern Risk Partners, Jim successfully established the Property and Energy claim practice at Beecher Carlson. He instituted a number of policies and procedures which brought structure and consistency to the claim process. His involvement
in the process began prior to a loss, which included wordings guidance, establishing internal and external reporting processes, account adjuster selection as well as expert retention and a best in class claim advocacy. His role also included management
of additional advocates, ensuring they met the quality and standards previously set.
At Stern Risk Partners, Jim is an advocate for our clients in the claims process. He is an extension of our clients’ risk management team and works hand in hand with our clients with pre- and post-loss advocacy. Having spent 17 years as an independent
adjuster, he brings his extensive knowledge of the claim process as well as claim presentation to the table. His relationships with some of the largest insurers are invaluable to resolving a number of large and complex losses.
Jim earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Roger Williams College. He is a member of the AIG Claims Advisory Board.
