Mr. Stern is CEO and Co-Founder of Stern Risk Partners. Michael has been in the insurance brokerage industry for over 20 years. Throughout his tenure in the industry, he has gained diverse experience in every capacity of buying, operating, growing and selling insurance brokerage and captive management operations. Through Michael's guidance, Stern Risk Partners has become the premiere provider of mandatory resident liability insurance programs in the multifamily space. He has also been integral in developing the company's full service, large account P&C brokerage team. He has been involved in the successful formation of over 50 captives for his clients as a highly successful producer in the large account insurance brokerage space.
.Michael began his career as a Corporate Finance Analyst for a regional investment bank in Arkansas, gaining experience in the intricate working of financial statements, valuations, pro forma modeling, acquisitions and other types of corporate transactions. He then became Vice President of Finance for the insurance broker, Hobbs Group, and was responsible for the financial portion of the company's operations, company agency aquisitions, and ultimately was a critical part of the deal team when Hobbs sold to HRH. Michael next became the Head of Finance for Beecher Carlson, responsible for financial due diligence and acquisitions while financially supporting the team in raising $100 million of PE funds. To augment his insurance experience, he transitioned to the brokerage side of the company as a Producer. He quickly succeeded and was promoted to Managing Director, responsible for the National Real Estate Practice with a heavy focus on developing business in the multifamily industry.
Michael double majored in college and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Saint Louis University. He also earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Emory University. Michael was twice named as Risk & Insurance Magazine"s “Power Broker 40 Under 40".
