Mr. Stern is Executive Vice President for Stern Risk Partners and has been in the insurance brokerage business for over 10 years. Stephen has extensive experience placing insurance programs for some of the largest real estate companies in the world, while incorporating sophisticated approaches to self-insurance and leveraging resident insurance programs. He leads the Stern Risk Partners Atlanta office and draws on his large account experience to service new and existing clients.
Prior to joining Stern Risk Partners, Stephen was Senior Vice President for Beecher Carlson where he placed insurance programs for large real estate clients, and was the leader of all Beecher Carlson Resident Programs including resident liability, resident content and resident deposit programs. Stephen is an industry expert in designing and implementing resident liability programs utilizing a captive or traditional insurance company. Stephen also produced and managed a large book of property and casualty business made up of some of the largest real estate companies in the world, helping his clients reduce their overall cost of risk through analytics and market strategy. Prior to Beecher Carlson, Stephen was a practicing tax attorney. He practiced in a law firm setting as well as with a “Big 4" accounting firm. In this capacity he counseled clients on tax issues including corporate organization to maximize tax benefit, resolved tax assessments levied on taxpayers, and provided a full range of consulting services regarding his client"s tax positions.
Stephen is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia and is a member of the multiple Bar associations. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The University of Tennessee. He also received the degree of Juris Doctor from Cecil C. Humphrey"s School of Law at the University of Memphis. Stephen has been chosen by Risk & Insurance Magazine as a Power Broker and was also named to the Risk & Insurance “40 under 40" brokers in the industry.
